Detail Shot: Simone Asymmetrical Neck Dress – Office Party vs. Black Tie Event

This season, we decided to test out a new woven stretch Italian suiting on a dress and jacket (the Natasha). We'd known for seasons that we wanted to try an asymmetrical neckline on a dress, and this beautiful fabric gave the opportunity.

The Simone Dress is, like all of our line, carefully designed to fit and flatter as many shapes and sizes as possible. Our pattern maker told us, when she took a look at the sketch, that this dress would be easy to create a pattern for, as she'd designed countless cap sleeves for red carpet gowns at previous companies, and was known as the "Queen of Cap Sleeves".

She knew exactly how to create a neckline and cap sleeve that were sexy but still comfortable and didn't cut off the wearer's  arm at an unflattering point. We added a seamed waistband to draw attention to the waist. This dress fits somewhere in between a sheath and a slight a-line in the skirt. The aforementioned fabric is gorgeous, and feels amazing on(designers like Prada work with this mill).  It has a lot of stretch so is as comfortable as a knit.

We feel it's a dress that can be worn to the office, to a casual party and even to a black tie event. It looks great with a belt too. We've styled it below for an office holiday party and for a fancier event.
